My Next Step: Securing a Full-Time Software Engineering Role

I am halfway into my internship as an Outreachy intern, where I have been working as a Software Quality Engineer at the Wikimedia Foundation. This journey has been both wild and transformative. My work here, combined with my background as a Software Developer, has broadened my perspective on maintaining and enhancing software products. I am confident that I can work with and contribute value to any engineering team.

I’m proud to share that I come from Cameroon, and as a woman and graduate, my background has instilled in me the values of relentless hard work, persistence, and unwavering commitment to the process. Continuous learning is essential to me—it’s the key to building my confidence and has helped me excel in every role I've taken on. Additionally, my experience as an open source contributor has been a major driver in my growth. Engaging with vibrant, collaborative communities early on not only sharpened my skills but also deepened my passion for knowledge sharing, which is a key reason I chose to work with the Wikimedia Foundation.

My Career Goals

My ultimate career goal is to secure a full-time or part-time remote role with a company whose work and values align with mine—a place where I can proactively learn and contribute meaningfully to projects. I am open to relocation if a company or organization is willing to sponsor it or I could if it is budget friendly :) ; I’m excited by the idea of working in a new environment and my unique perspective, rooted in my cultural and educational journey, allows me to contribute fresh insights and inclusive solutions to diverse projects. I’m especially passionate about positions that involve:

  • Building and maintaining scalable applications, contributing to both frontend and backend development.

  • Focusing on software testing, CI/CD optimization, automation and ensuring high-quality code delivery.

  • Specializing in writing automated tests, fixing flaky tests, and maintaining robust test suites.

  • Ensuring software reliability and performance, leveraging my CI/CD and optimization experience.
